1853 Liberty Head $1 Gold | PCGS Scratch-UNC Detail

The 1853 Liberty Head $1 Gold Coin is a classic early U.S. gold dollar struck from .900 fine gold. Designed by James B. Longacre, it features the elegant Liberty Head portrait on the obverse and a wreath encircling the denomination on the reverse. As one of the smallest denominations ever issued in U.S. gold coinage, it remains a popular collectible among enthusiasts of pre-Civil War and pre-1933 American coins.

Certified PCGS Scratch – UNC Details, this example retains strong original detail and mint luster consistent with an Uncirculated coin, with surface scratching noted by PCGS. Despite the details designation, it remains an attractive and historic mid-19th century U.S. gold issue.
