1854 Liberty Head $1 Gold | PCGS AU55 Type 1
The 1854 Liberty Head $1 Gold Coin Type 1 is a classic early U.S. gold dollar struck from .900 fine gold. Designed by James B. Longacre, it features the small Liberty Head portrait on the obverse and a wreath surrounding the denomination on the reverse. As part of the short-lived Type 1 design issued from 1849–1854, it holds an important place in early American gold coinage history.
Certified PCGS AU55, this About Uncirculated example retains strong detail, light wear, and attractive original character. With its historic significance and classic mid-19th century design, it remains highly desirable among collectors of pre-Civil War and pre-1933 U.S. gold coins.
