The refreshed Utah 1 Goldback honors the virtue Prudentia, or prudence, personified as a Ute woman wearing a traditional deerskin dress. The Ute people are the longest continuously living Indigenous inhabitants of present-day Utah. Prudentia sits upon Utah's iconic red rocks beneath an open sky, near Delicate Arch. She gazes serenely ahead, reflecting the judgement and foresight shown by both those who navigate the land with respect and care. Beside her rests a mountain lion, while a bristlecone pine--carried over from the original Utah 1 design--stands firm behind her. In the UV layer, a hidden wolf howls under the glow of the moon. The enduring priciple reads: “Wisdom gives life to those who have it.”
