The Idaho 100 Goldback features the virtue Libertas (Liberty), the capstone virtue traditionally depicted on every 100 Goldback. Set at Shoshone Falls in the Magic Valley, Libertas moves forward carrying a shovel, symbolizing the work, ingenuity, and responsibility that built opportunity in Idaho. The falls reference the irrigation projects made possible by the Carey Act of 1894, which transformed arid land into one of the most productive agricultural regions in the West. Surrounding details—including cultivated fields, a crop duster, a cornucopia of crops, and a soaring eagle—highlight Idaho’s agricultural strength and the connection between freedom and stewardship of the land. Inscribed on the design is the enduring scripture: “A blessing upon all that thou settest thine hand unto.”
