The California ¼ Goldback features the virtue Justitia. In one hand, she raises the scales of justice. In the other, she rests a gavel atop a stack of books. California’s state flower and insect—poppies and California dog face butterflies—are woven throughout the scene. In the background, Half Dome and El Capitan place the scene in Yosemite National Park. 

Under UV light, the artwork reveals water filling Justitia’s scales to illustrate the effort required to uphold liberty and justice. Along the bottom, the inscription reads “To delay justice is injustice."
